Lightning Photography
I took my first photograph of lightning handheld in 1973 using a Pentax Spotmatic F camera. Not ideal but it wasn’t bad. That was in West Australia and I believed I could hold the camera still for say 1/2second. Not quite. But I was hooked. As an electrical engineer I was doubly hooked. Still am. Nowadays I use a trigger which can produce the photos shown below. Stunning stuff but you have to know where to point the camera getting proper focus in the dark (normally) and cover all options for exposure. I say normally as day time storms do occur but are a different set of settings.
